Challenge Resolution

In all role playing games there is a mechanic to determine how well a player does when performing a task; whether it be physical, mental, or social. These mechanics are referred to as the challenge resolution. In our game, this resolution is a bit different in order to minimize the delay between an attempt and the outcome.

At DFWLARP, the Storyteller will have a batch of 10 UNO cards numbered from Red 3 to Green 6, with red being negative and green positive.

(-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

You will announce your draw pool (from your character sheet), then draw a card. The drawn card will either be added to or subtracted from your pool, and the total will then be divided by 3. This result will be your total Successes.

If an effect gives a character the “9 Again” ability, a Green 7 will be added to the Deck, and a Red 3 will be removed from the Deck prior to the Draw.

If an effect gives a character the “8 Again” ability, a Green 8 will be added to the Deck, and a Red 2 will be removed from the Deck prior to the Draw (in addition to the cards added and removed for the “9 Again” ability.)

If an effect gives a character an additional action (such as an attack), the Player will draw an additional time for each additional action granted, then the results of all those Draws will be added together before total successes are calculated.
